Bolt Design Group is a fast-paced design+build firm with an exciting range of projects in the hospitality, residential and event space sectors. We are seeking a junior designer to develop design concepts for projects across New York City and the Greater United States.
The ideal candidate has a passion for the design of all things; structures, spaces, furniture, lighting, interiors, exteriors. We require someone that has demonstrated experience and deep knowledge in the execution and production of drawings for presentation to clients, construction documentation, as well as shop drawings for furniture and lighting production. You will be interfacing with the principal on a daily basis and are expected to demonstrate a strong grasp of aesthetic elements, the overall design and the practical considerations of production and documentation of all phases of a complete design project.
The ideal candidate would have this unique skill set paired with the flexibility of seamlessly moving from one area of design to the next (facade design ideas-to-interior millwork drawings).
Our team is energetic and growing quickly. We are looking for the right person to help us continue to grow successfully and continue to push our design beyond the boundaries of the existing built environment. At Bolt, we have an in house fabrication team (right next door!) equipped with a 3-axis CNC machine, full wood-shop and finishing area for fabrication and full-scale prototypes.
Required skills:
- professional experience in design and architecture
- ability to manage multiple projects and a capacity to anticipate lead times to meet deadlines
- focused attention to detail
- familiarity with industrial and manufacturing process
- knowledge of interior materials and vendors
- ability to communicate with team leaders and construction managers
Required software:
- Rhino
- Adobe Suite
- CNC Fabrication (not required but experience preferred)
- V-Ray, or any comparable rendering software
