Patel Taylor is recruiting a Japanese-speaking architect to join its team in London.
Salary: £32,000 – £37,000 depending on experience
Location: Central London
Working days: Monday – Friday 37.5 hours per week
Patel Taylor weaves together architecture, landscape and urban design to shape place from city to human scale – and everything in between. Our portfolio includes exemplary masterplan, residential and commercial mixed-use developments, as well as education, infrastructure and cultural buildings. We are currently working on some of London’s largest urban land transformations at Beam Park, Stephenson Street, White City Living and London Dock.
We are looking to expand our 50 strong team with a proactive and talented ARB registered architect with a minimum one year of post-qualification experience to join us to work on a growing portfolio of projects.
Additionally, he/she is required to be highly competent with Revit software and have the ability to produce high-quality 3D visuals. At least two years of significant professional Revit experience (BIM level 2) is required for this post.
As well as the main design requirements, the candidate must be able to communicate clearly and concisely in English. Also, fluency in written and spoken Japanese would be required due to new client connections in Japan. A good understanding of current architecture regulations in the UK (minimum four years) are essential and the equivalent in Japan would be beneficial.
Applicants must demonstrate:
- at least one year post-qualification UK experience
- fluency in written and spoken Japanese
- thorough understanding of residential projects and standards in the UK (minimum four years)
- at least two years’ experience of working with Revit (BIM level 2) in practice
- significant experience of BIM (Revit Model) coordination with consultants including structural and service engineers
- good design awareness through a portfolio of projects
- clarity and confidence in communication; in writing, drawing and in person
The successful candidate will also have:
- proven experience of communicating with clients via email or skype and assisting the wider project team with Japanese language translation
- self-motivation, initiative, and team-working experience
- good presentation skills and knowledge of the Adobe software suite
- knowledge of 3D modelling in Rhino and V-Ray rendering
Day to day duties would include:
- developing strong integrated designs from concept to detail
- coordination with clients, consultants and contractors
- BIM (Revit model) coordination
- coordination of package information
- daily running of the project(s)
- time management of projects
