Senior interior designer/project manager
Lumsden Design is looking for a senior interior designer/project manager to join its London team.
Lumsden Design are an award-winning, innovative design consultancy working with retail, cultural and experiential clients to design exceptional retail spaces around the world. An increasing workload has created new opportunities within the company.
The successful candidate will have experience designing and managing within a diverse range of clients; an inquisitive character who understands pilot brands, established brands and the consumer market. A successful senior designer will understand the latest trends, be a keen researcher and looking to innovate the market as well as managing a group of projects to a very high standard.
The senior designer/PM will be responsible for:
- receiving and completing briefs with the creative team from initial client ideas through to production, including delegating and briefing the team
- leading projects and junior designers
- liaison and management of all contracting trades with main contractors
- handling management responsibilities, i.e. freelancers, briefing and point of contact between teams
- drawing up a specification for tender purposes to compliment the drawing pack
- evaluation of tender returns and value engineering same
- preparing and adhering to a Gantt chart on a project program
The senior designer/PM will have:
- at least seven years of design/management experience and at least two years’ experience leading briefs and teams
- proficient in AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator
- experience using V Ray and SketchUp
- experience of working in Metric and Imperial measure
- a working knowledge of building regulations, CDM and health and safety regulations
- a strong team player mentality with strong practical skills and drawing abilities to compliment that knowledge but also be capable of working within a highly creative team and being sympathetic to the creative vision
The senior designer /PM will need or need to be:
- a portfolio displaying conceptual thinking, brainstorming and technical skills
- comfortable travelling in the UK and the rest of the world
- have a good, polite and positive attitude with clients and fellow team members
- fully understanding of confidential information and NDA’s
- have a good sense of humour
