Fabrik Architects is seeking a senior architect to join its practice in London.

The design-led practice is the evolution of founder Joe Smithers’ 20 years working within the historic fabric of London. A truly unique job position has arisen as a result of rapid growth, ambition and recent partnership with developers One Oak.

Fabrik Architects is looking to appoint a senior architect to lead the practice to the next tier. Plans for growth are in place to bring in a number of architectural assistants below the successful applicant and for the model to be repeated creating another team to maintain output. You will be rewarded for galvanising a driven and ambitious team with the opportunity to realise your own vision as head of architecture and become an associate at Fabrik Architects.

The candidate will be given the full weight of our established resources to grow the practice as if their own. You will be required to restructure the working environment, generate new business, identify more efficient working practices and advise on the recruitment of new team members.

We would assume the role requires at least eight years’ experience in practice, however highly driven Part 3 candidates with five-plus years’ at exceptional RIBA chartered practices will be considered.

On completion of a successful three-month period the senior architect will become an associate with a share of the design practice, reflecting our commitment to the appointment and the significance and responsibility that comes with the role.

Minimum requirements:

  • RIBA Part 3/ARB
  • excellent CAD skills
  • English fluency
  • five years’ qualified

Ideal candidates will:

  • be a globally-minded individual with an excellent academic background (bachelor in architecture or equivalent from an internationally recognised architecture school) and a proactive, positive attitude
  • have a track record of at least eight years’ in-depth, post-qualification involvement in leading architecture firms, having demonstrated success as a project architect/project manager on a series of projects through all stages of design to construction, while managing multidisciplinary internal and external teams
  • combine strong aesthetic design sensitivity with a thorough technical and managerial knowledge and are a clear and precise communicator
  • bring extensive expertise in construction drawing and detailing, are well versed in building systems and materials, and demonstrate a profound knowledge of practice and industry standards and codes
  • excel in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, enjoy the responsibility of efficiently managing a team through leadership and motivation, and have exemplary time management and delivery skills
  • be fluent in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign) and a CAD drawing package, preferably Vectorworks, with a working knowledge of Revit
  • have ambition and entrepreneurial drive to lead a business
  • have established relationships with key partners throughout the design and construction sector
