The role
Soho House Design is looking for a passionate, hands-on, highly motivated, and creative, interior designer to join the team. This person will work within a team of in house designers on internal and external hospitality and residential projects.
Applicants should be familiar with the interior design process from design development, materials research and selection, through to procurement, production and installation.
Experience in hospitality design is a must.
Main duties
- works closely with the senior designer assisting him/her during all phases of the design process from concept to installation
- assists senior designer with planning, designing, and supervising new projects and renovations or additions to existing properties
- sources finishes, fixtures, furnishings, fabrics, trimmings, lighting, hardware and accessories for review of senior designer
- prepares finish schemes and sample boards to include fabrics, trimmings, architectural finishes furniture, and accessories for review of senior designer
- manages FF&E and sourcing to target budgets and timetable on a daily level
- develops design drawings (bespoke furniture, lighting, millwork, and layouts) as well as schedules for the review of senior designer
- requests pricing from suppliers for furnishings, fixtures, and finishes
- prepares preliminary FF&E budgets for the review of senior designer
- prepares specification sheets for all selected items and custom pieces
- assists team with preparation of construction documents, specifications, and review of bid documents
- manages FF&E and sourcing to target budgets and timetable on a daily level
- attends regular site visits at key stages
- assists FF&E installs
- ensures regular reviews and check-ins with senior designer
- ensures documents and presentations are filed in accordance to Soho House standards
- maintains material sample library
Requirements/qualifications:
- one-four years of experience in hospitality and/or residential design
- completed bachelors degree in interior design
- knowledge of local and online showrooms and resources as well as industry trends
- experience in being part of a collaborative design environment
- thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic, and creative environment
- easily adapts to changing priorities and tasks
- is proactive and asks questions
- product development experience a plus
- professional-level software proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit experience a plus
- professional-level software proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite; Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator
- professional-level software proficiency in SketchUp, Rhino or other 3D modelling programme
- professional-level software proficiency in Excel and Outlook
