Intermediate lighting designer
at Elektra Lighting Design

Elektra Lighting Design is recruiting for an intermediate lighting designer in London.

Please note: this is a re-advertisement, if you applied in November we still have you on file. Turns out just before Christmas is a bad time to advertise.

Us

We are an independent design consultancy working mainly in hospitality and retail. We are a close-knit, friendly and supportive team with an exciting working environment with a wide range of stimulating projects, personalised training and development, a competitive salary and a company pension scheme. Fully committed to equality in all forms. Also we normally bake a cake for your birthday.

Our current workload includes hospitality, retail, workplace and other projects in 17 countries across three continents. Dealing with projects from conception to completion, you will learn through working alongside senior experienced lighting designers on complex projects, as well as our regular Monday training sessions.

Dedicated to forward thinking and employment practices, we recently switched to a four-day week, meaning you get every Friday off. For clarity: same salary, same workload, three day weekend. It’s a great place to work.

You

With some experience in lighting design, you’re looking to move out of a junior role and get more design independence.

You need to have: a university degree in lighting design or architecture, interior design or similar, along with some previous employment in lighting design, preferably with an independent consultancy. Candidates should be proficient in AutoCAD, Photoshop, Microsoft Office, Dialux or Relux and Adobe InDesign; bonus points for Revit. You should be creative, independent, organised, have good presentation skills, self-motivated and hardworking, and above all have passion for lighting and design.

We are committed to equal opportunities. Applicants must be eligible to work in the UK; we will not be able to obtain a visa for you. Please read that last sentence again before sending your CV, we cannot get you a work visa. EU nationals are still OK to work in the UK visa free and are most welcome to apply; sorry about the whole Brexit thing, not my circus, not my monkeys. Independent applicants only, please. No agency appointments considered.

Note: just to be completely clear; we are not product designers. We don’t design light fittings, in the same way that architects do not design bricks. We create well-lit architectural spaces using light.

Please submit your CV and portfolio immediately addressed to Neil Knowles.
