Talent summary
The interior designer will assist in the design and development of projects, will produce design presentation material and will assist in the production and documentation of construction documents. Must be able to demonstrate basic knowledge in architectural CAD and/or drafting and design development. Must have a willingness to expand knowledge in architecture, architectural design techniques/ technology, and application of interior design principles.
Minimum requirements:
- education: prefer BS in architecture, interior design, or related discipline
- experience: minimum of four-five years’ interior design experience, preferably in K-12 educational facilities, community colleges, public works, medical/hospital facilities or retail projects
- certification: CID or NCIDQ accreditation preferred
Supervision and delegation:
- reports to the director of interior architecture/project architect
- produces project documentation related to scope during all phases of the project and ensures design intent is incorporated
- lead and maintain quality control in five-plus projects
- may assist in the development of project marketing interview materials
Skills:
- excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)
- personable and presentable with the ability to engage in an informed conversation with clients
- strong graphic presentation skills
- strong design skills
- knowledgeable with current building codes, specifications and consultant coordination
- knowledgeable with the agency review process, DSA and OSHPD procedures
- computer skill set including Revit, AutoCAD, Photoshop, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite
- ability to assist in the documentation of project design with engaging presentations utilising tools such as 3D CAD modelling
- ability to prepare contract documents, including elevations, sections, ceiling plans, millwork details, furniture layouts, finish plans and schedules with minimal supervision
- ability to effectively participate and lead in schematic design and design development of projects including programming and space planning analysis
- ability to use creativity and original thinking in design issues with a keen eye for detail and exemplary taste in design and architecture
- ability to effectively participate in office design charettes, team design critiques and pin-ups
- ability to use advanced design communication skills via sketching and hand drawings
- ability to follow the design intent of graphic and verbal direction
- ability to research materials/ manufacturers and provide cost analysis based on area calculations
- ability to participate in the development of 3D modelling of projects
- prepare various design communication and presentation materials including sketches, rendered 2D and 3D drawings, rendered perspectives, slide shows and material selection boards/ binders
