Monty & Payter is a fast-growing innovator in the field of high-end property development in London. We aim to deliver beautiful refurbishments of listed and historic buildings that pay equal attention to design and sustainability.
The relationship
We’re now trying out an experiment to bring architectural design in-house for the first time by hiring a talented, experienced Part 3 architect to lead and oversee projects. This will start with a three-month full-time contract to manage the technical design for a 250m2 refurb of a near-derelict house in one of Westminster’s most picturesque conservation areas — working with a senior partner of the firm and a seasoned external team of structural engineer, MEP and QS, and delivering a construction set ready so RIBA stage 5 can proceed with near-zero amends. Concept design and planning consent are already in place.
Depending on how this project goes, it could lead to a permanent role in-house or to an anchor client for a new independent practice of your own.
Qualities
Must-haves:
- ARB registered, four to five years’ experience at Part 3, and UK resident
- proven record of both tender and construction sets for residential refurb projects
- familiarity with planning, CDM, JCT, building regulations
- compelling design and detailing skills
- wide software skills
- highly autonomous but great with clients, contractors and other professionals
Nice-to-haves:
- Revit, AutoCAD and SketchUp superpowers
- live in London
- happy with Covid-19 working from home
- strong CA and project management skills at RIBA stages 5 and 6
