Sophie Paterson Interiors is looking for a senior designer to join its team in Elmbridge, Surrey. 

We are hiring a senior designer to work in our studio in Elmbridge area of Surrey to work on our high-end residential projects across the UK and overseas.

Required skills:

  • proven working knowledge of high-end residential or medium to large sq m/sq ft projects including FF&E procurement (materials, finishes, detailing and scheduling) experience and procedures
  • proven experience in dealing with clients, contractors and other suppliers in a highly professional manner (minimum five years in high-end residential interior design)
  • proven experience in running and delivering projects from initial concept to completion, to include:
  •  brief
  • concept design
  • production information
  • tender process
  • construction
  • handover
  • ability to create and develop conceptual designs including the skill of using colour and texture, and the ability to explain these to others
  • ability to advise clients on all technical aspects of a design project
  • proven experience in Vectorworks and/or AutoCAD, Photoshop, 3D modelling software, Excel, Estimac and other industry software packages would all be advantageous (where applicable)
  • self-motivated and able to use initiative but also a good team player who is able to work quickly and efficiently in an organised manner
  • self-confident, receptive to constructive feedback and able to cope with criticism of your work
  • organised, and able to manage a team effectively, whilst mentoring junior team members
  • ability to manage time and workflow of multiple projects efficiently
  • excellent communication skills including verbal, written and visual
  • exceptional attention to detail
  • full clean driving license essential

Responsibilities:

  • working to a written or verbal brief, which details how each individual space will be used
  • managing projects efficiently, within schedule and within budget in close cooperation with associate director as a member of project team
  • managing and briefing design team on live projects
  • preparation of concepts, mood boards, preliminary and final designs, and development of details, furniture, fixtures and lighting layout
  • organisation of workflow with colleagues, 3D visualizers and others
  • developing detailed designs and choosing materials
  • managing the procurement of FF&E products
  • mentoring and assisting junior and middleweight designers
  • building and growing existing client relationships- developing initial ideas and acquiring key information about potential projects, discussing requirements in detail with clients and setting project schedules
  • developing detailed designs and choosing materials
  • working closely with the director, you will be expected to use your initiative on following up on new business opportunities
  • building and growing existing client relationships
  • keeping up to date with new developments and design trends in the design industry
