Architectural technologist

OWN London Studio has an opportunity for an architectural technologist/technician to join its London-based team.

The role offers a great opportunity to work closely with the design team to develop designs and lead projects working predominantly through RIBA stages three to six for a number of exciting schemes across the prime residential and high-end commercial sectors.

The position requires:

  • good working knowledge of building technology and construction methods
  • strong bespoke joinery solutions
  • good working knowledge and an understanding of BIM
  • proven track record of successful job running
  • proficiency in AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite and SketchUp
  • experience in construction specification writing
  • experience in coordinating and liaising with external consultants/specialists
  • coordination between primary MEP/structural consultants
  • strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • excellent technical knowledge and understanding of UK building regulations
  • excellent technical skills

Responsible for production of drawing packages:

  • existing and proposed plans, elevations, and sections
  • demolition and new walls information
  • internal elevations
  • joinery drawings
  • review of shop drawings
  • mechanical integration to interior design
  • RCP and small power setting out elevations reviewed under deign aspects
  • finishes (materials and details)
  • general details presented in 1:1, 1:5, 1:10, 1:20 scales
  • joinery design and production
  • bathroom design and production
  • doors and windows design, schedule, and production

Responsible for production of information schedules:

  • finishes
  • sanitary
  • appliances
  • ironmongery
  • lighting

Skills, experience and qualifications required:

  • recognised qualification in architecture
  • ten years’ tangible experience with good knowledge of high-end residential design projects in the UK, London specifically
  • on site management
  • great knowledge of interior materials for commercial office and luxury residential sectors
  • detailing interior layouts, delivering CAT B technical drawings and tender packages
  • experienced on site supervisions
  • excellent attention to detail
  • extremely organised and able to keep on a schedule despite obstacles
  • able to prioritise tasks, working on several projects at once
  • great problem-solving skills if faced with an issue, able to evaluate all the possible solutions
  • quick lateral and forward-thinking capabilities with the ability to stay calm and positive under pressure
  • excellent English with strong verbal and written communication skills
  • willing to continuously develop skills and knowledge to improve own level of performance
