The School of Art, Architecture and Design (AAD) of London Metropolitan University offers courses across a broad range of subject areas. Learning through practice, playing with process and working with clients; students at the school gain real-world experience in both individual and collaborative projects, engaging with professionals, communities and companies. There is a strong emphasis in our studios on socially engaged architecture, art and design applied to both local and global contexts.

About architecture

Architecture is one of three subject areas at the school. It offers BA (Hons) Architecture (RIBA 1), M.Arch (RIBA 2) Architecture, and the Postgraduate Certificate in Professional Practice in Architecture (RIBA 3), the new Architecture Apprenticeship (RIBA 2 and 3) as well as a portfolio of specialisation-led Master’s courses. Our students are taught predominantly by practising architects who, together with academic staff, are active contributors to the culture, production and delivery of architecture.

“London Met is one of the best architecture schools in the UK. For a long time it has been a place for an interesting community of practising architects and teachers, who have been attracted there by the conversations, by the school’s commitment to real questions of architecture, building and practice, and who see the identity of the school as something precious in London.”  Professor Peter St. John
