Digital and social media specialist
at Studio Olafur Eliasson

Studio Olafur Eliasson is seeking a digital and social media specialist to join its team in Berlin.

Employment: freelance
Limited project period: Fixed term, second half of 2021
Where: Berlin
Deadline: 20th June 2021

Job description

As a digital and social media specialist for Earth speaker, you will work alongside a dynamic and small team to shape the social media communication around and promote the ongoing, successful global art initiative started by Olafur Eliasson. This role is anchored within the studio’s encounters department.

Drawing on a strong background of developing and implementing social media campaigns across a variety of platforms (especially TikTok, Instagram and YouTube), you will work closely with the artwork’s core team, as well as project partners to manage and drive the project’s fun and innovative social media platforms, aimed at a young, broad, international audience, as well as develop the concept and strategy around the campaigns more broadly. The artwork also combines an interactive website that you would contribute to.

Your tasks will include identifying key moments and developing key strategies for the social media approach, building and nurturing a multi-generational following, focussing particularly on the artwork’s youngest generations, across newly established social media platforms: TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube. Further to this you will be developing and nurturing a network of supporters and/or influencers and spokespeople, as well as engaging with kids through workshops. An understanding of setting up and maintaining Google ads and other social media ad campaigns would be an asset. You will work alongside a small team to draft, schedule and post convincing content, analyse results and provide regular reports. You will need to closely monitor and promptly respond to comments and feedback across all platforms. The ability to work independently, learn quickly, as well as pivot and respond to the fast-paced online world is essential.

An interest in art, as well as topics such as climate change, education, and diversity, will be greatly beneficial. It is important that you enjoy being around and working with kids and can get into a kid spirit! On this project, we work with kids from eight upwards.

Your skills:

  • you have experience working with digital marketing and social media with proven success (experience with influencers and TikTok is a bonus)
  • you have proven experience developing a following across newly established social media channels
  • you grasp complex briefs quickly and are confident working independently
  • you work well in a team, under pressure, and are able to juggle multiple deadlines and streams of communication
  • you have excellent organisational and communication skills
  • you are experienced with issue management on social media and are confident in implementing strategies
  • you have experience working with influencers and paid media
  • you are comfortable writing copy and editing
  • you have a strong understanding of creating visual, social content, and using programs including the Adobe Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Acrobat) and other image and video-editing software as needed

Language requirements

This position requires fluent business English. Fluency in German is highly desirable. Other languages are a plus.

Desirable:

  • proficiency in languages other than English
  • a kid-friendly and focussed attitude – a desire to work with kids and put them first
  • you are able to work flexibly across weekdays and on weekends if needed
  • you are enthusiastic about promoting Studio Olafur Eliasson’s activities
