Mid-weight interior designer

Winch Design is seeking a mid-weight interior designer to join its team in London.

Job purpose

This role is part of our interior design team, within our architecture department.  Primarily working on ultra high-end international residential projects, this role will support a senior interior designer on large scale projects and/or be the lead on smaller residential projects.  You will be working across all periods and styles of design, therefore strong design knowledge and experience will be key as will experience in project delivery.  Strong presentation skills are also essential.

Key responsibilities and deliverables:

Design management:

  • manage FF&E elements of the design stages but with an understanding of the full production process
  • assist the senior interior designer in sourcing, sampling and budgeting FF&E designs
  • research, design and develop presentations and mood boards using Pinterest and other sources
  • support the delivery of presentations to clients
  • prepare and manage comprehensive FF&E schedules
  • review detailed drawings, plans in CAD, take measurements
  • take directive from the senior interior designer on the design concept and ensure all FF&E elements are fitted to the highest quality finish
  • onsite liaison with suppliers, contractors and consultants
  • attend client meetings with senior Design members
  • work with the procurement team with specification book preparation

 Project, business and people management:

  • support the senior interior designer and associate on project delivery
  • build relationships with key suppliers
  • mentor and guide more junior members of the interior design team
  • support new starters at all levels

 Key skills and experience:

  • at least three years’ experience running multiple luxury, FF&E projects
  • formal qualification in design, fine arts or interior architecture
  • strong design and communication skills
  • ability to work autonomously but also as part of a team
  • proficient with CAD, InDesign, Photoshop
  • filemaker – WD training will be provided
  • promote use of technologies to capture efficiencies and advancements
  • detail oriented problem solver
  • self motivated
  • good negotiation skills
  • budgetary awareness
  • practical knowledge and experience with furniture, fixtures and equipment

Remuneration and benefits:

  • competitive salary available depending on level of experience
  • hours 9:30am – 5:30pm – Monday to Friday
  • 24 days annual leave per annum
