Paid graphic design intern
at ISOLARII
ISOLARII has an opportunity for a graphic design intern to join its team in New York or London.
ISOLARII is a series of books by the world’s most avant-garde writers, artists, architects and philosophers. A new book is released every two months via subscription to a community of readers in thirty-five countries.
The aim is to pioneer a radical international literature – read by many in synchrony – and redefine the uses of books in the twenty-first century.
Publishers, India Ennenga and Sebastian Clark, and creative director, Ben Ganz, are looking for direct hires in New York and London.
Role
ISOLARII is currently expanding its production and merchandise. We are looking for an intern to assist the design team as well as conceptualise, prototype, and execute product, marketing, and book design.
This is an opportunity for a young designer to help determine the graphic identity of a growing media company and work as part of a new design studio.
Expectations:
- part-time/20 hours per week, minimum six months (covering production of three books)
- assisting design directors on book layout, cover design, and product photography
- designing digital materials (e.g. email headers, social media graphics, motion graphics)
- material research
- prototyping merchandise and packaging
- working independently to develop and present campaign concepts to publishers
Skills and experience:
- diploma or (near completion) of a degree in architecture, product design, illustration or graphic design
- expert in Adobe Creative Suite, AutoCAD
- experience with Figma, Rhino, AfterEffects
- digital and material technical skills
- additional language a plus
- previous experience in book/magazine design
- creative, independent worker and collaborative thinker

ISOLARII was founded in 2020 and has produced some of the most important publications and projects of the previous year, including the Turner Prize-nominated environmental work of cooking sections, a political campaign in Russia, and a groundbreaking collaboration between Art Spiegelman and Robert Coover.
