Technology lead
at Medical Architecture

Medical Architecture is hiring a technology lead to join its team in London.

We are recruiting a forward-thinking architectural technologist who has a strong technical understanding of, and an interest and experience in dealing with, day-to-day information technology matters. You will help us improve office productivity and the quality and delivery of technical design across our practice, which has studios in London and Newcastle upon Tyne.

You will be a senior member of our team, with a base in our attractive, central London studio, alongside the opportunity to work flexibly from home. You will use industry-standard Autodesk BIM applications, working on high-quality healthcare projects within our teams, designing a new generation of high-performing health infrastructure in the UK and overseas.

Role responsibilities

You will be central to improving our company’s technical capability and will be:

  • leading the technical and construction package design of selected projects
  • collaborating with our BIM team to refine technical standards and improve project workflow
  • liaising with our IT support company as the key person contact for the London office
  • acting as the ‘go to’ contact for day-to-day office IT issues, filtering out trivial requests and escalating important matters
  • working alongside the IT lead in our Newcastle upon Tyne office to manage licenses and plan future hardware or software requirements
  • reporting to the directors on technology expectations, performance and opportunities

Person specification

Successful candidates will need to demonstrate:

  • CIAT or equivalent qualification with a minimum of five years’ experience working with design teams on complex building projects
  • current understanding of UK building regulations, and statutory requirements
  • good understanding of construction design office IT applications (MS Office 365, Revit, AutoCAD)
  • some knowledge of IT systems, server, printers – sufficient to identify and escalate problems
  • excellent interpersonal communication skills
  • positive approach to problem solving
