Architect/designer
at SWAP
SWAP is looking for a recently qualified architect or experienced designer to join its growing London studio.
As a research-based and process-driven design practice with a focus on social architecture, we are working on a number of innovative education and residential schemes, and looking for an individual with an inquiring and challenging mind who will enjoy working with us across all project stages. We believe in exploring and communicating ideas through a range of digital and physical media, such as sketches, drawing, model-making and visualisation, which are all an intrinsic part of our studio’s design processes.
Key responsibilities and accountabilities:
- supporting project directors in managing and leading early concept design development and planning submissions
- liaise with local planning authorities and other statutory bodies and committees
- excellent organisation skills and experiences of coordinating consultants
- lead and manage a team on small to medium scale projects
- planning, programming and managing deadlines, and project delivery across all design stages
- supporting technical lead on post-planning work stages
Key skills and attributes:
- active experience with UK planning process
- proactive attitude towards design with an appetite to engage in an explorative process
- proficiency in Revit and/or ArchiCAD
- experience of working in a collaborative BIM environment
- proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, particularly InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator
- positive approach to collaboration with colleagues and consultants
- excellent written and spoken English
- UK resident
The person we’d like to see join our team would ideally have the following skills/attributes:
- proficiency in Rhino
- experience in leading the planning process and applications
- proficiency with rendering software – twinmotion, V-Ray, etc.
- three years experience post Part 3 within the UK
