Junior interior designer
at NM Design
NM Design is seeking a junior interior designer to join its team.
We are a luxury specialist interior architecture and design studio in London who create bespoke and inspirational interiors for both residential and commercial clients throughout the UK and internationally.
The successful candidate will join our design team who are currently working on exciting boutique hotel projects for a new brand launching in the UK, furniture and retail design for a renowned retailer and high-end residential projects abroad.
Key day-to-day duties and responsibilities of the junior interior designer:
- working within a design team on multiple projects at all levels of design production
- researching and generating concepts appropriate to the region and brand
- developing schemes for hospitality interiors and producing sample boards
- sourcing furniture, lighting, finishes and designing bespoke items
- creating detailed FF&E specifications, GA and joinery drawing packages
- liaising with clients, suppliers, consultants and contractors
- CGI coordination documentation
- producing rendered plans, elevations and perspectives
- designing Indesign presentations for client meetings
- attending site and design team meetings when required
The successful candidate will have the following qualifications and experience:
- one to three years’ experience in the hospitality (and ideally residential) industry from concept through to completion, within the UK
- BA (Hons) in interior design (or equivalent)
- passion for interior architecture and FF&E, creative ability to design and develop schemes suitable for hospitality
- good knowledge in AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop and Indesign) and SketchUp are essential
- ability to produce drawing packages
- ability to produce sample boards/trays and detailed specification documentation for FF&E, sanitaryware, decorative lighting, finishes and ironmongery
- highly proficient in developing bespoke FF&E and finishes and specifying products appropriate for hospitality environments
- experience of working on fast-paced projects with limited budgets, the ability to source cost-effective items available within short timeframes
- experience in client communication and liaising with suppliers, consultants and contractors
- comprehensive knowledge of UK suppliers and BS standards
- experience working to hotel operator standards would be a plus
- CGI coordination experience
- freehand sketching ability and good visualisation skills
- on-site experience
- excellent communication and presentation skills, exceptional attention to detail
- confident to work both independently and collaboratively within a team
- excellent written and verbal English communication skills are essential
