University College London is seeking multiple lecturers to join its team in London.
The Bartlett School of Architecture is a world-leading place to study, teach and research architecture. The School is a key part of UCL, a top world-ranking university, where architecture has been taught for over 175 years. With over 300 permanent staff, across two state-of-the-art London sites, the school enjoys a rich reputation for cultivating innovative ideas in architecture and is currently ranked global number two by the QS world ranking by subject for architecture and the built environment and the top architecture school by the Architects’ Journal AJ100 for the 17th consecutive year.
We are recruiting for a number of part-time positions available for an immediate start, in preparation for the 2021/22 academic year.
The posts are for the areas outlined below with flexibility required to move across other programmes listed in the future as needed:
- Architecture MSci (ARB/RIBA Part 1 and 2)
- BSc Architecture (ARB/RIBA Part 1)
- MEng Engineering and Architectural Design (RIBA Part 1, CIBSE, JBM)
- MArch Architecture (ARB/RIBA Part 2)
Post holder(s) will be required to teach their appointed subject to students on prescribed modules at specific times of year. The central purpose of all roles is to maintain an innovative and distinct academic agenda within the global context of architectural development, the specific profile of the programme and the local context of the school.
Posts are available to candidates with relevant expertise and previous teaching experience in architectural design at UCL or a university of equivalent status. All applications must be submitted by individuals, however as in some cases we are seeking to appoint new pairs of tutors per design unit, we welcome submissions that are paired between two proposed teaching partners. We request this information is highlighted and made clear in both individual applications submitted.
Key requirements
We are looking for teaching professionals with a higher degree in architecture or architecture related discipline along with excellent knowledge of architectural design strategies. In addition, successful post holder(s) will be able to demonstrate a track record of high-level teaching at an esteemed school of architecture, leading students to a recognised high standard of work, including international awards, e.g. RIBA president’s medals, etc.
As well as possessing the ability to translate advances in architecture into own teaching delivery methods, applicants will demonstrate inclusive teaching practices and use of a range of teaching technologies including provision of timely and effective feedback to students.
