Urban planner
at Architects’ Studio
Architects’ Studio is looking for an urban planner to join its team in Mauritius.
Be a member of the Architects’ Studio team to provide urban planning and master planning services.
Role:
- to be involved in strategic planning studies, urban planning and urban design
- the urban planner will provide technical and professional support in the execution of urban and regional planning and master planning projects
- the urban planner will work closely with other designers and support the business development initiatives, bid preparation and marketing (if required)
Responsibilities:
- support the production of high-quality urban planning, design and master planning project
- support in the preparation of technical bids and fee proposals for master planning and urban planning projects and other major infrastructure projects where appropriate
- project management of master planning projects involving multi-disciplinary teams
- developing and maintaining relationships with clients, attending meetings, workshops and seminars
- other duties associated with the main role and responsibilities will be requested from time to time
Technical competencies:
- degree or postgraduate qualification in urban planning
- minimum three to five years’ experience in urban planning, master planning and urban design projects
- very strong English language report writing skills
- knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud suite and ability to prepare high quality documents for client submissions is a preference
- preferable to have knowledge of other necessary software programmes including GIS, CAD, Revit, Microsoft Office applications including MS Project
Behavioural competencies:
- must have excellent interpersonal skills, be a team player and have a customer focus
- preferably will have previous consultancy experience and be looking to broaden their planning and project management skillset
- ability to solve problems by thinking laterally and be able to understand the needs and requirements of clients to provide planning and design solutions
- must be able to work in a large, multidisciplinary, multicultural team and manage client relationships across a range of geographies
- must also be a self-starter who can work without direct supervision from senior management and/or peers
- able to be flexible and adapt to working in a demanding environment including the need to travel when required.
The contract for the above job will be a two year contract with a possibility to extend if need be.
