Curatorial fellow

The Carnegie Museum of Art is currently accepting applications for a curatorial fellow position at the Heinz Architectural Center in Pittsburgh, USA.
Established in 1990, the Center has been leading innovative research through exhibitions, lectures, workshops, symposia, and other forms of public engagement. This curatorial fellow position aims to foster research and debate on architecture and the built environment within the museum field, as well as offer professional pathways by introducing recent graduates to a full spectrum of curatorial experiences at the museum. For an intended two-year appointment, with the possibility of renewal for a third year, the fellow works closely with the curators and researchers at the Heinz Architectural Center and interacts with departments across the museum to offer essential assistance on the development of exhibition projects, the facilitation of museum education, collection research and rotations, publications and interpretive materials, art acquisitions, special initiatives, and other curatorial duties as assigned. In collaboration with the curators, the fellow assists in compiling research and writing for the center’s collections, exhibitions, acquisitions, and deaccessions, and is also responsible for general administrative work for the center.

Qualifications
Requires a bachelor’s degree (master’s preferred) in architecture, architectural history, planning, art history or comparable degree in a related field. The position is intended for recent graduates who demonstrate a passion for researching the complexities of the built environment and a desire to pursue professional curatorial and educational work in a museum setting. Candidate must have initiative to undertake and complete tasks and projects as they arise, to contribute intellectually to the content of exhibitions and permanent collection installations, and to coordinate and make recommendations for improving the overall functioning of the center. Requires strong research and analytical skills, ability to work collaboratively and collegially with staff and interact with professionals in the field. Outstanding written and oral communication skills are essential.
