Studio Umut Yamac is looking for a product developer based in London.
The studio
The studio is based in east London and centred around the workshop where decorative lighting, objects and bespoke installations are designed and produced. The work is characterised by an architectural approach to products which explores the middle ground between object and space through movement and interaction. The studio produces our own collection of signature pieces, collaborates with brands and develops custom made projects.
The position
Studio Umut Yamac is entering an exciting phase of development and is looking for a confident product developer with an eye for detail to join the team. You will play a pivotal role developing lighting and furniture designs, and have demonstrable prior experience taking projects from concept to production.
The position is located in our Leyton studio. We are happy to consider flexible working arrangements including freelance/part time subject to agreement.
Responsibilities:
- develop lighting/furniture designs from concept/prototype stages to full production
- work to detailed timelines and project manage each stage to ensure quality and timeliness
- liaise with suppliers and fabricators to source materials and produce production information
- problem solving during product development to identify opportunities to revise and improve designs to achieve the highest quality end product
Required skills:
- at least two years’ relevant experience in lighting production design or product development role
- excellent knowledge of lighting standards (CE, UL…) and technology including LEDs, drivers and dimmers
- excellent Model-making and prototyping skills including working with metal, wood and plastics
- advanced knowledge of Rhino and Adobe Suite
- precision, meticulous eye for detail and strong work ethic
- excellent organisation skills and time management
- strong written and spoken English
- proactive problem solver
