Studio manager

Deans Hansen is looking for a proactive, part-of-the-studio team practice manager and head of ops to join it’s London office.

This is a central role managing the core operational functions of the studio, ensuring administrative processes and day-to-day activities run smoothly.

As part of the studio and communications team, you will be working closely with the practice directors and managing the studio to support a small but growing practice of architects and contractors.

Key responsibilities:

  • responsible for the day-to-day running of projects, ensuring they are delivered on time and on budget
  • lead the internal project design/construction team, setting tasks and overviewing the work
  • develop and maintain positive relationships with existing clients, maximising any potential opportunities. Maintain an awareness of clients’ goals and act accordingly
  • focus on the smooth management of the project process, being aware of any requirements, deliverables, timelines and visibility of costs against fees throughout the project life cycle
  • prepare, communicate, and monitor project programmes, work plans and budgets for both clients and the internal teams
  • manage all aspects of client, team, and project coordination, including full documentation and coordination with architects, main contractor and other consultants
  • take active ownership of problems and find successful resolutions
  • contribute to project reports and staff meetings with concise and accurate information to continually improve the studio’s delivery and financial objectives

To be considered, candidates must have:

  • design and project management experience
  • a passion for and experience of working within residential design
  • creative with the ability to produce concepts, presentations and present with confidence
  • a thorough understanding of the design process with the ability to manage and deliver this from the concept through to completion.
  • bachelor’s degree or higher in interior design or interior architecture
  • a minimum of three years’ of design management experience is essential
  • proven experience working in a similar interiors lead role
  • strong leadership, management and communication skills, with the capability to delegate effectively
  • strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple projects and deliver to tight deadlines
  • knowledge and experience in all phases of interior design projects
    experience managing consultants, suppliers and contractors, resolving technical and design issues as required
  • proven ability to provide excellent client support and project leadership
  • ability to be proactive and adaptable with the aptitude to work in a fast-paced environment
  • strong programming and space planning skills
  • understanding and hands-on experience of the procurement process
  • high level of design competence with knowledge of building regulations and codes
  • strong IT skills, with Microsoft Office software and Adobe Suite (e.g. InDesign, Photoshop) and a good level of Vectorworks experience preferred
