West 8 Urban Design & Landscape Architecture is hiring a PR and communications professional to join its team in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.
West 8, established in 1987, is an international practice for urban design, landscape architecture and infrastructure with offices in Rotterdam, Brussels and North America. We work on projects worldwide with a dedicated team that hosts some of the most creative and innovative minds in the world.
Our projects raise local and global attention from a diverse array of audiences. We have an immediate need for an experienced and creative all-round PR and communications professional (full time), who will support us to further promote our projects, raise brand awareness and help us to pursue new projects both in the Netherlands and worldwide.
An important aspect of our future PR work will be the online presence of West 8 and its projects. The successful candidate will be part of our public relations team, based in our main office in Rotterdam.
This position requires the ability of strategic thinking and strong skills in written communication based on excellent knowledge of both Dutch and English.
A selection of the main tasks for this position are:
- preparing a wide range of visual and written communications, including portfolios, press releases and award submissions
- preparing content for the website and social media channels
- updating and maintaining the photo and image archive
- overview and management of tender processes (RFPs/RFQs)
- collecting and designing bid documents, presentations, and management of project databases
- answering incoming PR and press questions
- improving our network of relevant media contacts
- planning exhibitions, presentations, and lectures
Our ideal candidate has:
- a university degree (BSc/MSc/MA) in marketing, communications or journalism
- at least three years of work experience in a similar role to bring new ideas to the team
- excellent proficiency in Adobe CS: InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator
- excellent oral and written communication skills in both Dutch and English
- eye for detail, both in visual and written form
- interest in and basic knowledge about archiving and documentation
- interest in architecture and design and basic knowledge of West 8’s oeuvre
- discipline and time management skills as well as a flexible working attitude in relation to deadlines
- the confidence to work in a complex and international environment
