Patrick McGrath is hiring a mid-level interior designer to join its team in New York.
Patrick McGrath is looking for an experienced interior designer to support and work closely with the design team to efficiently execute projects within deadline constraints.
A growing interior design firm based in Soho, NYC, Patrick McGrath Design seeks a motivated designer with a minimum of four years’ of relevant design experience to join our studio. The ideal candidate should have experience in high-end renovations projects, working on all phases of development for both FF&E and design documents.
The designer would work directly with the firm’s principal designer to ensure the facilitation of a project’s completion meeting timelines and budgets. Candidates must be extremely organized, detail-oriented and creative. An ideal designer should have a high level of knowledge in concept development, design and construction documents, and project management skills.
Job responsibilities:
- manage timelines and priorities as part of a cross-functional team and collaboratively meet tight deadlines
- demonstrates a highly organized and systematic approach to producing a project
- candidate would be direct report to junior staff and interns
- complete package of deliverables for project phases
- keeps all team members informed of status of projects and deliverables
- coordination for finish plans, specifications, and material selections
- research and source interior products and relevant interior finishes/materials for review
- maintain and manage project folders with all related drawings, specs, schedules, etc.
- review quotes and shop drawings
- work closely with team to ensure all drawings and documents clearly and accurately communicate the design intent
- regular meetings with team to review progress and ensure questions and concerns are addressed
- troubleshoot problems and finding solutions on construction site to move project forward
- flexibility to work on multiple projects in various stages of development
- work closely with clients
Job qualifications:
- five plus years’ experience in interiors
- high level drafting using AutoCAD, including space planning, schedules, details of custom furniture, lighting, etc.
- presentation tools including Adobe Suite or Apple Keynote
- knowledge of 3D computer modeling skills (SketchUp, 3D Max, Rhino etc.) a plus
- work closely with design team to execute projects but confident in leading a project from start to finish
- extensive knowledge of FF&E selection (materials, finishes, detailing, and scheduling), methods, and the tools involved in the construction or repair of houses, buildings, products or other structures
- knowledge of NYC design resources – furniture, fabrics, wallcoverings, vendors, artisans
