OD Create is hiring a mid/senior level interior designer to join its team in London.

OD Group is a leading office interiors company based in the City of London, with a dual focus on both traditional construction and design and build. We have firmly established our brand due to excellent service and a commitment to ongoing innovation, and despite the pandemic are on track for another successful year.

We are currently looking for a talented and ambitious designer to lead and develop the design function within our design and build team, OD Create, helping to win and deliver an exciting array of office fit-out projects in London.

Designing workplace solutions in a team-based environment, you will have the opportunity to deliver truly innovative schemes that delight our clients.

You will confidently collaborate with the internal project team, managing all phases of the design process from concept and client brief through to on-site implementation.

The role of a lead designer will include:

• accurately taking and interpreting client briefs
• completing site surveys and building analysis
• developing concept designs, taking into account the requirements of multiple stakeholders, budget, and brand considerations
• working to agreed project milestones to achieve deadlines
• confidently presenting your designs to the client, including sample boards, sketches, drawings, visuals, etc. as appropriate
• developing and detailing each design scheme, selecting finishes and managing junior designer and/or external freelance resource to complete detailed technical drawing packs
• managing the communication of design changes to the internal project delivery team
• maintaining up-to-date knowledge of UK building control regulations
• assessing, updating and maintaining design documentation for each project
• attending project meetings, to check project progress and that subcontractor works comply with the signed-off design
• continually striving for improvements within design team working practices, greater innovation and creativity

Required skills and attributes:

• previous experience in commercial interior design, ideally design and build
• a strong all-rounder that can deliver both concept/creative work and coordinate technical drawing packs
• a confident, articulate presenter, with excellent communication skills – both written and verbal
• fluent in AutoCAD Architecture and Adobe design softwares
• ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
• ability to manage your own time effectively and mentor a junior designer
• a positive and professional ‘can do’ attitude, striving for continuous improvement and efficiencies
• ability to create a common sense of team and purpose
• desire to take ownership of achieving personal and team objectives
