Studio manager

Pearson Lloyd is looking for a studio manager to join its studio in London.
The studio manager will support the following key activities:
- general administration
- human resources
- marketing and new business support
- supporting finance
Pearson Lloyd is a product, furniture and innovation design studio led by founders Luke Pearson and Tom Lloyd. For the last twenty five years, the agency has designed products, systems and environments for the home, workplace, transport and healthcare sectors.
We are looking for a proactive and highly organised studio manager to support the studio’s This is an exciting and dynamic role and we are looking for an energetic, organised and motivated individual to join the team. Good communication skills and a hands-on approach are essential, as well as a good understanding and/or interest in design.
Job role
General:
- provide administrative support to the directors including diary management, travel and communications
- act as the first point of contact for the studio to all visitors, clients and deliveries
- manage all matters relating to studio premises, equipment and supplies and the day to day functioning and presentation of the studio
- assist the directors with human resourcing, including staff recruitment and leavers, inductions for new staff, managing personnel records, annual leave, absence and annual reviews
- develop a fluency in the PL design philosophy and product lines and serve successfully as an ambassador for the studio
Finance:
- complete client invoicing, staff and project expenses and other financial tasks such as updating royalty schedules, generating reports and coding costs appropriately
- supporting external accountants with Payroll, VAT returns, and HMRC enquiries
Marketing and new business:
- support all new business activities to develop bids and presentations
- contribute to marketing campaigns for product launches, studio events and award submissions
- contribute to content on all social media accounts, newsletters, PR activities and press enquiries
- manage the hiring of Pearson Lloyd’s studio gallery and events space –Yorkton Workshops
Required skills:
- excellent command of the written and verbal English language, with exceptional communication skills and telephone manner
- basic financial literacy with an ability to manage budgets, project codes and client invoicing, experience with Quickbooks is desirable.
- Microsoft Office Suite including advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel
- good knowledge of Adobe InDesign and Photoshop
- excellent organisational and time management skills – able to work independently with a proactive attitude
- experience or interest in working in a creative environment
- valid UK/EEA work permit
Qualifications:
- three years’ experience in a similar role required
- preferably educated to bachelors degree level but not compulsory
