Production manager

Sedilia is recruiting a production manager to join its London-based studio.
Sedilia has been creating exacting upholstered furniture since 1998. We are the quiet force behind some of the interior sector’s most acclaimed designs, and also designers/makers of our own expanding Sedilia collection.
Collaborating with interior designers and architects on a variety of luxury residential projects – from beautiful homes to super-yachts, our work is varied, often challenging and hugely rewarding.
You will join a small, creative office team and will have the opportunity to make an immediate impact.
The position is based at our expansive light-filled premises a stone’s throw from Clapham Common in south London.
Great attention to detail, an eye for design and appreciation of fine craftsmanship are essential, together with the desire to work in a lively workshop where each piece is made in house.
The position is available with an immediate start.
The role will involve:
- working closely with the company director to engineer the construction of every piece of furniture we make
- managing each job’s progress through the various stages of production, ensuring every job is made accurately and efficiently
- managing our team of makers across all stages of production
- using AutoCAD and SketchUp to produce detailed production drawings
- designing and sourcing bespoke components
- day to day management of our production schedule software
The ideal candidate will:
- have a relevant design/making degree (furniture or product), or equivalent qualification or training
- enjoy a working knowledge of furniture construction and design, although specific experience of upholstered furniture is a bonus rather than essential – specialist training can be given
- have a minimum of two years’ experience in a similar role, including proven experience of managing a team
- possess strong knowledge and experience of AutoCAD and SketchUp
- have excellent verbal and written communication skills with a strong command of the English language
- have solid multitasking and organisational skills, which are essential
- be intuitive, meticulous and proactive, with the ability to problem solve
- have enthusiasm and a willingness to work with in a small creative team
- bring excellent attention to detail and a passion for furniture making
- be proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
General employment terms:
- this is a full-time position of 40 hours a week, eight hours Monday-Friday, based at our London studio
- salary – £35,000 to £40,0000, depending on experience
