Resi Design is hiring a junior designer to join its team in London.

At Resi you will have the opportunity to work differently and accelerate your career. You’ll work alongside a variety of home development professionals, from building regulation experts to planning specialists. Since our launch in 2017, we’ve gone on to become one of the largest home development platforms in the UK, improving thousands of homes per year. As part of our team, you’ll have the chance to be exposed and contribute to dozens of interesting residential projects as they go through from a vague idea to a happy home that customers can move into. You can be a critical part of helping homeowners have quality improvements, delivered with speed and for less.

We are currently 130 people based in International House right at the heart of Brixton, including more than 80 designers and planners, South London. International House is the UK’s first Living Wage Building. Our office is both accessible and we will  make reasonable adjustments to accommodate successful candidates, this is a hybrid role and we expect you to attend our office in South London at least three days per week (typically Monday, Tuesday and Thursday).

The core responsibilities of this role:

  • strong drafting capabilities using Revit
  • an eye for detail and the ability to interpret client amendments to produce a rounded and quality design
  • the ability to work independently and leverage specialist and senior support when required
  • experience with compiling complete planning packages, forms and all associated documents in order to fulfil the needs of the local authority
  • working with a senior designer to create designs that interpret the client’s needs, motivation and budget whilst increasing the chances of securing planning approval, first time
  • a basic understanding of the technical aspects around drainage, the party wall act, planning legislation, building regulations, on site potential queries, tendering process, contracts and programmes
  • being able to work under pressure and hit targets on a regular basis, consistency over time in order to suit the goals of the business
  • focusing on speed, quality and adding value
  • living our values and holding others accountable to them
  • communicating fully with internal teams to ensure a successful project brief – this involves bringing questions, solutions and actively seeking the root causes on issues to push improvements for the customer the role, and the way in which projects are drafted

About you

We know that every designer brings something different to the table – to have the best chance of success in this role we think you need to have:

  • good technical knowledge in residential architectural design (creative) – ideally in home extensions and renovations
  • understanding of most of the RIBA stages – i.e. the process from start to technical design
  • experience working with customers and putting them first
  • the ability to thrive in a high performing environment
  • a positive attitude and mindset
  • demonstrable experience of high performance
  • high level of maturity
  • willingness to learn, adapt and provide solutions

You might be even more of a technical fit if you have:

  • planning, project budgeting and building regulations experience
  • strong experience with Revit
