Corstorphine & Wright is hiring a residential layout designer to join its team in Stourbridge, UK.
We are Corstorphine & Wright, an award-winning, AJ100 architectural practice with design Studios across the UK. We are a dedicated team of 200+ enthusiastic individuals that care about creating places that foster human connection while adding commercial, civic, environmental, and social value.
Our Stourbridge studio is growing and looking for an experienced residential layout designer to join our driven team! As a residential layout designer you will be working closely with the associate director to produce residential layouts and support drawings from concept and design
development stages through to planning application submissions. If you are looking to continuously develop your career in a friendly, collaborative and creative environment and be part of our motivated team this is a job for you!
Required skills:
- previous exposure on developing feasibility layouts for new land bids
- a good knowledge of residential layout design, reinforced by examples of work
- knowledge of current design standards in the residential sector
- experience producing detailed planning layouts and accompanying drawings for planning submission packs
- experience in producing comprehensive design and access statements and design codes
- excellent graphic and presentation skills
- a proven track record of taking a client brief from concept stage, through design development to gaining planning consent
- to liaise with clients, local authorities, and external consultants on projects
- excellent communication skills with an ability to articulate a design idea or evolution of a concept
- experience working for either a construction company or architectural practice in a strategic residential team
- a strong work ethic
The successful candidate should be proficient in the following software:
- AutoCAD
- Adobe Photoshop
- SketchUp (3D)
- Revit (an advantage)
