Workshop/APD is seeking a senior hospitality designer to join its team in New York.
Workshop/APD is an award-winning New York City-based multidisciplinary design and architecture firm. From penthouses and seaside retreats to luxury residential developments and groundbreaking hotels and restaurants, our projects are uniquely defined by a sense of place and purpose and a desire to ultimately enhance the user’s experience through exceptional design. Our aesthetic is timelessly modern but site-specific, unbound by project type or a singular style. Our diverse and collaborative team of creative architects, interior designers and product designers leverage their vast and highly varied experiences to solve complex design challenges, resulting in spaces that are exceptionally beautiful and accessible.
We are currently seeking both a full-time senior designer with a minimum of five years’ previous experience in the architecture/interior design industry with a particular emphasis on hotel and restaurant design. (residential design experience is a plus but not required.)
The candidate should have strong design experience on real hospitality projects (not schoolwork) where they were involved in all phases of the design process and can demonstrate creative involvement. Candidates must have high level digital modelling and rendering skills. The ideal candidate would be a gifted designer who is organized and able to vision and manage parts of a project.
This position is instrumental in concepting and executing projects and will report to the design director.
Duties and responsibilities:
- design and management of hospitality projects
- involvement in all phases of design/documentation; from concept through construction administration
- computer modeling and rendering
- documentation
- FF&E specification
- managing intermediate and junior designers
Requirements and qualifications:
- professional degree (bachelor’s or master’s degree in interior design or architecture)
- minimum of five years’ design experience (including hotels and restaurants)
- a creative individual who can develop hospitality concepts and bring them to life:
- explain design intent with images and sketches
- create presentations with Adobe programs
- interior space planning
- 3D modeling and renderings skills in 3D Studio Max, Rhino, Revit with Enscape or Sketch-Up
- millwork and interior detailing
- create construction documents in AutoCAD and Revit
- ability to work well in a team
- good Communication skills
- attention to detail
Salary/benefits
