Planit Consulting is looking for an in-house architectural assistant/technician. Our office is located in Godalming, Surrey, UK with on-site parking available for employees.

Job background

This position offers the successful candidate the opportunity to develop their experience in architecture as part of the planning process. The ability to develop expertise and knowledge quickly will be key to this role, as the job holder will be required to make an early contribution to Planit’s increasing workload. As in most small organisations, staff need to remain flexible and comfortable with adapting to the changing needs of the business. The following details provide an indication of the type of work this role offers.

Main objectives

To provide drawings suitable for submission for planning applications; including location plans, block plans, drawings of existing buildings and proposed extensions, outbuildings and in some cases new dwellings. The candidate may need to assist with planning research and with the preparation of planning statements.

Key responsibilities:

  • planning applications
  • detail design

Technical detailing skills and key experience:

  • confident and communicative designer
  • ability to work well in a team and on own initiative
  • running projects from concept design through to completion
  • prioritising workload and managing multiple projects

Essential skills:

  • excellent AutoCAD skills
  • fluent in English verbal and written
  • knowledge of planning and construction
  • good organisational skills and an ability to work on multiple projects concurrently
  • UK experience essential

Ideal background:

  • experience in creating plans
  • experience in writing reports
  • degree or post-graduate qualification in planning or architecture

Personal attributes:

  • organised and productive and be able to work to strict deadlines
  • quality conscious with attention to detail
  • able to take responsibility, ownership and be a trusted team member
  • articulate with excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • enthusiastic, self-motivated and confident
  • driving license preferred but not essential

On-the-job training and support will be provided. Some local travel may be required.

Salary to be advised, depending on experience.
