In addition to its architectural practice, Deca Architecture is expanding its research programme which ultimately translates to our design practice.
Projects director role
The projects director will primarily lead the project delivery process, studio ethos and management of the design teams.
The projects director will need to be familiar with working on projects that are demanding in detail and precision, whilst supporting the client brief and the design team’s creative process so that the best outcome can be achieved.
Job responsibilities include
Project management:
- responsible for oversee of all projects from a contractual and resource perspective
- work closely with each project anchor (architect leading a project) to manage the timely delivery of all projects
- act as client point of contact in partnership with the appointed project anchor and principals
- own project status overview, timeline, resourcing and budget
- chair weekly team meeting with all Project Anchors reporting updates
- oversee day-to-day work of a diverse team of creative professionals, ensuring efforts are matched to objectives and that projects are progressing in a timely manner
- review design and technical solutions with the design team to pre-empt any issues and if changes are required ensure Principals are aware
- provide principals with regular project reports and update principals and finance director on key elements weekly
- ensure contractual obligations are met and the vision for each project meets Deca’s standards of concept, design and quality
Team management:
- oversee scheduling, resource allocation and timelines
- manage design team in relation to contractual delivery table, schedule and formats
- update and manage spreadsheets/software to keep track of work/time/budget/sick leave/holidays
- in partnership with design team, source and coordinate outside vendors, consultants, researchers, suppliers
- facilitate and chair regular project review meetings with design team and principals
- help guide/nurture team members, share project management expertise, and help establish any new processes (if required)
New business:
- in partnership with Principals, review new business strategy and provide input
- prepare and draft new business proposals in collaboration with team
- prepare and review draft contracts for new projects for principals’ approval
- contribute to strategic new business planning in partnership with principals and finance director
- in partnership with principals, prepare the new project brief(s) and timelines for the design team
Required experience/characteristics:
- experience as a senior project manager or similar project director role
- strong experience in supporting and managing project teams
- confident people person and engaging team player
- strong work ethic and ability to manage competing priorities and responsibilities
- excellent written and verbal communication skills
- fluency in Greek and English required
- an understanding of architectural processes from design, to build and install
- ideally the candidate will have an understanding of fabrication methods, craftsmanship, production processes/timelines, materials, and industry innovations
- educational background in architecture /engineering, or related discipline preferred, however real life experience on architectural and design projects valued
- proven experience in planning so that projects comply with local build, zoning, environmental, and safety regulations. (In some cases, this will require working with a dedicated consultant well-versed in local regulations and building standards.)
- optional: experience of international building standards, environmental criteria, and safety regulations also welcome.
- proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, Google Drive, Dropbox, Excel, Miro and any other Time and PM software such as Float desired (training can be offered)
