Job title – mid-weight interior designer

The ideal candidate must have – an interior design degree or diploma, three to four years’, and a minimum of three years’ experience the in residential and or hospitality sector

Reporting to – Helen Howe MD

Salary – a competitive salary based on experience

Based – both between our client’s sites, office and home, access to your own transport is essential for this role.

There will be no direct reports to begin with in this role, however we would like to find someone who is passionate about team development and is happy to assist the more junior members of the team.

Job description

We are seeking a highly proficient interior designer to work mainly on residential projects within the Hertfordshire and North London market. Our clients expect high quality, modern designs with a personal twist tailored to each individual.

Your role will be to consult, design and budget any projects, sourcing and costing each factor and then work as part of a wider team to deliver these projects in full to the clients standard, on time in budget or under.

As part of our strategic growth plan, we are seeking someone who is not only creative but is comfortable presenting our business and happy to close the order on our behalf, whilst maintaining a level of professionalism and building strong relationships, thus ensuring we are recommended time after time.

You will have the full support of our small team and be able to work alongside the business owner and existing junior designer.

Day to day responsibilities:

• experienced and fully proficient at using SketchUp
• experienced at reading and converting architects plans into SketchUp
• creates 2D and 3D rendered SketchUp models from architect plans and site surveys
• experienced at developing 3D Sketch model renders as an on-going design tool
• carry out on site surveys
• takes accurate as-built measurements for developing floor plans and elevations
• creates design concepts and digital presentations based on the client brief.
• ability to create CGI designs as required for client projects and marketing purposes
• attend client meetings in person or on zoom as required
• presents design concepts as required
• takes detailed notes in client meetings to record requests, key actions and next steps and proactively follows up on these meeting minutes to the directors, team, and clients accordingly

Sourcing and costing process:

• source furniture, fixtures, and fittings in line with the director’s vision, client brief and budget
• create sourcing digital presentations with specifications and costs as required to show the client.
• selects appropriate FF&F products for review
• order and track samples
• create custom built furniture specification briefs / presentations with detailed drawings, dimensions and finishes for costing
• ability to prepare furniture cost estimates
• set up and prepare project cost / specifications documents for each project and keep updated
• liaise with suppliers to source the best options for each project and make informed suggestions in line with client brief
• set up and maintain the business digital library of suppliers/resource

Project specification and planning:

• create interior project schedules/briefs for trades to use to tender
• create digital presentations to illustrate the interior schedule of works with detailed floor and elevations plans with key dimensions and specifications to support the project brief.
