Retail designer
at Quinine Design

Quinine Design is seeking a retail designer to join its team in London.

About Quinine

We are a leading retail experience consultancy. We work with product and service brands by transforming existing or designing new retail environments. We focus on creating face to face experiences that work effectively for the business, the brand, the customer and the staff.
Based in London we work internationally for world-leading product and service brands including Comcast, EE and Fido.

We are looking for an outstanding retail designer to join our team. The role is ideally suited to either an ambitious junior designer looking to take their next leap or a recently established middleweight designer looking to take on a fresh challenge and continue their growth within a new team.

The successful candidate will be well versed in the design delivery stages of a project, store planning and fixture development. You will also be comfortable with creative design thinking and able to conceptualise appropriate design solutions in response to client challenges.

The role

As part of the design team, you will be in contact with the client and required to be a clear communicator with an ability to understand the client’s situation and needs.

You will support the project lead and have the ability to handle multiple tasks at once and be comfortable handling meetings and calls with suppliers and clients. You will be comfortable in all three of Quinine’s key disciplines, research, strategy and design with particular strength in Design. Ideally, you should have experience in all design phases from concept through to delivery.

You will be able to work at a variety of scales, just as comfortable planning a store or detailing a store fixture as you are working on a store-wide aesthetic. You will excel in delivering space planning for retail projects. You will be comfortable working through design challenges independently and be confident in presenting back solutions that are thoughtful, robust and considered, to project teams.

A natural collaborator, alongside developing your own point of view, you will embrace other team members opinions (from creative director to junior designer), always striving for the best solution to a problem. You will be familiar with supporting the creation of inspiring concept documents and competent at producing accurate, error free, detailed design drawings. You will be expected to manage and organise all project files and assets.

Skills and experience:

  • three plus years’ retail design experience in a design agency or in-house design department
  • excellent organisational and interpersonal skills
  • fluent in Vectorworks, Adobe Creative Suite and good working knowledge of Microsoft packages. Experience in Cinema 4D would be advantageous

Personal attributes:

  • be a positive and inspiring team player
  • able to work successfully as part of a team
  • motivated and reliable
  • able to build great relationships at all levels across the studio both internal and external
  • outstanding work ethic
  • ability to manage own time and be results driven
  • be a problem solver with a can-do attitude
  • willing to get stuck in with whatever is required
