A vacancy for an assistant sales manager has opened up at the Carpenters Workshop Gallery in London, UK.
Carpenters Workshop Gallery produces and exhibits functional sculptures by international artists and designers working outside their traditional territories of expression. It is an exciting, cutting edge gallery based in Mayfair and we are looking for an efficient, confident and hardworking professional to join the team.
As a dominant figure in the international marketplace of art and design, Carpenters Workshop Gallery would like to strengthen its sales team with the addition of an assistant sales manager.
The desired candidate will require fluency in English, French and Russian, be educated to a degree, NQF level 6 or above and hold a minimum of three years’ gallery experience.
High proficiency in time management and superior literacy skills are essential. The ability to read and write in Russian is preferred and a successful candidate will hold a thorough working knowledge of the current contemporary art and design market.
There will be a strong focus on the commercial and client-facing elements of the gallery. This will involve liaising with clients and artists on behalf of the Directors, drafting invoices, quotations and building a client base that will ultimately aid in the development of sales strategies and setting of sales targets.
The gallery participates in a large number of global art fairs each year whilst periodically holding exhibitions in our London, Paris and New York galleries. Working at Carpenters Workshop Gallery will give the opportunity to be involved in these events, giving the chance to experience the fast-paced creative and dynamic environment the gallery generates.
Responsibilities:
- sales management
- working with clients globally across the UK, France and Russia
- developing marketing and sales strategies, implementing them successfully
- producing reports and recommendations on said strategies for senior management
- discussing client requirements, carrying out surveys and analytics of their reaction to the artworks
- sending sales offers on behalf of sales directors
- analysing and compiling sales figures
- compiling artwork selections for client presentations
- raising quotes and invoices
- liaising with production teams for technical questions, lead-times, pending productions, and samples requests
- liaising with logistical teams and gallery technicians in regard to deliveries, installations and restoration coordination
- handling customer accounts: following up on offers, chasing payments, sending invitations
- researching new artist information and auction results
- arranging travel plans for the sales team, booking trips, accommodation
- maintaining and updating the company’s client database
Qualities of a successful candidate:
- high level of literacy and numeracy skills
- fluency in English, French and Russian
- strong communication skills
- IT literate and confident in all office programs, Word, Excel
- confidence in dealing with enquiries and decision making
- proven ability to multitask
- keen eye for detail
- ability to work under pressure, without supervision as well as part of a team
Salary: £41k to £42k.
