Business development manager

MVRDV is seeking a business development manager to join its team in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.

MVRDV is looking for an ambitious and experienced business development manager with a deep understanding of the Dutch real estate market and architecture industry. You need to be a motivated self-starter and have confidence in taking ownership of several projects simultaneously. You are also an open-minded person who prefers to work in a team of real professionals.

MVRDV is a global operating firm with a team of more than 300 employees, dedicated to innovative architecture and urban design. Founded in 1993, the MVRDV headquarters are based in Rotterdam with subsidiaries in Shanghai, Berlin, and Paris.

Responsibilities

In short, you will be focusing on the new business development opportunities for MVRDV in the Netherlands.

Here is a brief summary of tasks that you can expect:

  • generating new business leads and developing our existing network of clients focusing on commercial, public and urban projects
  • developing proposals and strategies for new opportunities
  • presenting these to various stakeholders, both internally and externally
  • proactively managing relationships with existing and prospective clients
  • actively supporting the business development team as a whole
  • aiming to achieve broader goals and targets together with the team
  • you are going to join a team of talented business developers which is part of the strategy and development studio
  • you will report to the global head of business development.

Requirements:

  • master’s degree in real estate, urban planning, landscape architecture or architecture
  • minimum 5 years’ of professional experience in the building industry, with at least one to three years’ of experience in a similar position (e.g. business development manager, sales manager, etc.)
  • fluent Dutch speaker with strong communication skills, both verbal and written. You also need to have a good command of English.
  • experience in project management. You need to be able to define a project scope, establish processes, plan costs, predict risks, manage various stakeholders, etc.
  • proven track record of lead generation and creative business development ideas. You can convert market feedback into structural proposals and strategies
  • outstanding organisational, negotiation and pitching skills
  • experienced Adobe Creative Suite, MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint user
  • an ideal candidate should also have a wide professional network of contacts in the Netherlands (commercial real estate and/or cultural real estate business, with further connections to urban planning and design opportunities.)
