Salary: £26,000 per annum

Our busy year-round programme of events, exhibitions, publications and research addresses the key issues affecting the city’s built environment and drives the debate about its future. Our fast-growing membership of over 500 organisations spans both the public and private sector, including architects and designers, developers, engineers, planners, agents, public sector bodies and product manufacturers. We are based in central London, with offices on Great Sutton Street, Clerkenwell, Basinghall Street, The City and Coal Drops Yard, Kings Cross, with interactive models of Central London and the City, for events and public engagement.
The role
NLA is looking for a programme coordinator to provide a critical level of support to the Programme team across a wide range of tasks in delivering the busy programme of events, research, publications and exhibitions. This role will have a primary focus on programme and research support across a wide range of topics, as well as the coordination of certain programmes and the delivery of events.
The role involves supporting the team in a number of curatorial and logistical aspects including event coordination, speaker liaison, preparing briefs and collating presentation materials; research and publications support, from insight gathering and submissions coordination to proof-reading; exhibition support from conception to installation; organising schedules and diaries, writing meeting notes and client follow-ups and general team assistance.
Reports to – programme manager
Main duties and responsibilities:
- planning and delivery of certain events including copy writing and speaker invitations, briefing and management, and pre and post-event communications
- researching topics and developing programme content
- intelligence gathering and recording working with NLA’s networks and membership
- support for our annual programme of research, including collation of materials, editing and proofing
- joining internal and external meetings. Minuting meetings and circulating actions, ensuring actions are followed up and completed by liaising with various members of the team prior to meetings
- working with the marketing and communications team to ensure website, mailers and social media outputs are all up-to-date for events and that events are promoted in a timely manner
- assisting the events team to deliver the events programme – including preparation, front of house support and post-event analysis
- general office support, including filing, post, office recycling, and answering telephones
What we are looking for
You will be a team player but also a self-starter with an interest in the key issues influencing London’s development and investment industries, as well as their effect on the capital’s built environment and Londoners more generally. You will share our team’s core values by always being informed, rigorous, collaborative and responsive in everything you do.
Essential skills and experience:
- a good knowledge and interest in architecture, planning and design in London and related policy and regulations
- basic computer skills: Office 365 (including Teams), Adobe Creative Suite, Zoom – experience with Apple Mac OS is desirable
- good interpersonal skills and telephone manner and excellent standard of English
- enthusiasm and a willingness to undertake other tasks and learn new skills
- precision, great attention to detail and exceptional communication and time management skills
Many of NLA’s events are hosted in the early mornings or into the evenings, so the ability to be flexible around early starts and late finishes is essential.
Your normal working week is 40 hours, Monday to Friday. While we support flexible hybrid working, we ask everyone to be in the office minimum two to three days a week for team collaboration and socialising.
