Digital designer
at Lawrence Lek
Lawrence Lek Studio is hiring a digital designer to join its team in London.
Lawrence Lek Studio is known for bridging the worlds of fine art and digital architecture through site-specific virtual worlds and multimedia installations. We work with galleries, museums, biennials and public institutions to create projects that explore the spatial and narrative possibilities of digital media.
Our recent works
AIDOL — a CGI feature film about a musician who collaborates with an AI ghostwriter (Sadie Coles HQ, London).
Nøtel — a VR experience set in a fully automated luxury hotel (Art Basel, Switzerland).
2065 — an open-world video game set against the backdrop of a posthuman science fiction universe (K11, Hong Kong).
Black Cloud — a short film about self-driving cars lost in a smart city (VH Grand Prix for New Media Art).
The role
We are looking for an interdisciplinary digital designer who can work closely with the artist and studio manager to oversee our virtual and physical productions. This role would suit those with hybrid interests in art, architecture, animation, filmmaking, video games and visualisation.
Their goal will be to help deliver museum-quality CGI imagery, virtual environments, and physical sculptures that balance material constraints with digital expression.
The role is on a freelance project-based basis for an initial period of six months.
Payment is pro-rated to the equivalent of a salary of £20,000 – £24,999 per annum.
Working culture
We work in a friendly and flexible digital-first environment, valuing equal opportunities and transparent and open communication. We keep the scope of our projects ambitious yet focused, using web-based project management tools to ensure that challenging assignments are delivered on time and within budget. Because of the experimental nature of our work, we also systematically document working procedures to streamline our production process.
Candidates in the UK
UK-based candidates must have the right to work in the UK. Work will be mainly remote (80%) and partly in-person (20%). We will have occasional meetings or production workshops in our studio at Somerset House in central London.

We are open to working with candidates outside the UK able to work 100% remotely. We regret that we cannot sponsor visas or compensate for relocation costs to the UK. Please indicate your time zone when applying.
