Tom Dixon Studio is looking for a junior product designer to join its team in London.
About us
Design Research Studio is the interiors product and creative studio at the heart of the business. We create lighting/furniture and accessories for the Tom Dixon Brands and interiors, product and branding for a wide variety of international clients.
About the role
The role is to support our design team to deliver extraordinary designs to the product development team that will be sent to our factories for sampling and production:
- supporting the design team with concept generation, sketch-work, model-making, rendering and technical drawing
- completing market research and trend forecasting; contributing to the annual design orientation process
- working directly with Tom Dixon to translate ideas and information into finished and manufacturable product designs ready for production
About you
We are looking for a hands-on and enthusiastic junior product designer with digital and analogue skills who thrives in a fast-paced environment.
The successful candidate will be:
- good level of written and verbal communication skills
- motivated, resilient and confident working on their own and under direction
- has an appreciation of good design and knowledge about how products are manufactured
- great attention to detail
- keen to develop their existing skills with help from the senior design team
- comfortable with power tools and workshop machines to create models in wood, plastic and metal
- practical knowledge of 3D printing would be preferable
- the ability to deliver technical drawings and specification packages communicating design intent, dimensions and construction to our factories
- working knowledge of product design software packages including Rhino, Solidworks, Keyshot, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign
