Clayworks is seeking an architectural assistant or technician to join its sales team remotely or in Cornwall, UK.

Place: Mullion, Cornwall is preferred, however, home working or hybrid will also be considered.

About you

You will be likely to have experience working for architectural practices with a good working knowledge of construction and building design. You must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and a friendly, interpersonal manner. You will be confident in the reading of architectural drawings and BOQ’s. You will also be willing to develop a strong understanding about specification and application of our materials. You will be confident on the telephone, speaking with professionals worldwide, every day, discussing projects, designs and details as well as assisting with following up on sales enquiries and developing relationships with architects, builders and plasterers around the world.

You will also have a passion for learning about clay plasters, their applications onto many different substrates, in a multitude of environments. You will understand the pressure architects and designers are under to react to the climate change crisis and the changing demands of consumers for a healthier lifestyle.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • provide advice and guidance on the company’s products to clients and their teams
  • carry out materials ‘take off’s’ from architectural drawings and BOQ’s
  • assist with generating technical datasheets and details for the Clayworks product line
  • process and follow up on sales enquiries
  • working closely with the Sales and Marketing team, and also our clay technicians
  • update, monitor and develop the Clayworks CRM system
  • accurately record all correspondence relating to sales enquiries
  • attend client sales meetings virtually and sometimes face to face
  • to establish a thorough knowledge of the company’s product range and its uses and limitations
  • to represent and promote the company in a positive manner
  • occasional travel to clients and sites and occasional attendance at events primarily in London but possibly nationally
  • to work in accordance with the contract of employment and all other company policies
  • undertake training as the company deems necessary
  • carry out any other tasks for the company deemed necessary by the senior management team
