London, UK
Senior exhibition designer
at Nissen Richards Studio

Nissen Richards Studio is seeking a senior exhibition designer to join its team in London.

Nissen Richards Studio is an award-winning design practice based in London. Founded in 2010, we have built an international reputation for delivering thoughtful, high-quality projects across architecture, exhibition design, graphic design, theatre, and interpretation. We work extensively in the cultural sector, designing exhibitions and galleries for major museums in the UK and abroad, as well as undertaking architectural commissions for residential, commercial, and public buildings.

Our work spans from small, site-specific installations to large-scale permanent exhibitions, often combining disciplines to create integrated, memorable visitor experiences. Clients include leading museums, heritage organisations, arts institutions, and private clients. We are known for combining design creativity with technical precision, producing work that is both visually compelling and robustly deliverable.

We’re looking for a senior exhibition designer to join our London team full-time, in our studio. Exhibition design experience is essential – you will have worked extensively on museum and gallery projects and have a deep passion for cultural spaces. You’ll work closely with our creative director and fellow designers in a collaborative, hands-on environment, contributing ideas, technical expertise, and design thinking that challenge convention and engage audiences.

Skills and experience we’re looking for:

  • proven experience in museum, exhibition, and gallery design — from concept through to delivery, with a portfolio that demonstrates both creative innovation and technical precision
  • advanced CAD skills (Vectorworks preferred) for producing accurate, buildable drawings
  • 3D modelling expertise in Rhinoceros 3D and/or SketchUp, with the ability to communicate complex spatial ideas clearly
  • full proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) for presentation, graphic layouts, and visual storytelling
  • strong visualisation skills – able to create imagery that captures the mood, atmosphere, and narrative of a project
  • excellent drawing and drafting ability, with an eye for detail and a respect for craft
  • deep understanding of RIBA work stages and the technical demands of delivering built projects
  • confident communicator, comfortable presenting ideas to clients, stakeholders and teams
  • collaborative mindset, able to work closely with the creative director, designers, architects, and external consultants
  • organisational skills to manage time, resources, and workflow effectively in a busy studio environment
  • curiosity and cultural awareness, keeping up with new approaches in museum and exhibition design internationally

We want someone who lives and breathes exhibitions and museums – inventive, thoughtful, and eager to explore new ways of presenting culture.
