The School of Design is part of the highly successful and vibrant faculty of Liberal Arts and Sciences. Frequently commended for our partnership working across the design and creative industries sector, the school delivers high-quality research with external research funding reaching £4M and a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes leading to various creative industries disciplines, including #architecture, #animation, #media, #graphicdesign, #landscapearchitecture #visualcommunication, #urbanism, #inclusivedesign, #designdiplomacy #digitalarts and more.
We are seeking a dedicated 1.0 FTE design studio manager to operate and develop the School of Design studios in our Stockwell Street building in Greenwich.
These art and design studios occupy around 2,000 square metres over the first floor of the building and typically accommodate upwards of 200 staff and students on any teaching day providing for our undergraduate and postgraduate portfolio of programmes (architecture, landscape and urbanism, design anthropology, media and communications).
The role requires a motivated, proactive individual to fully support and develop all aspects of the Stockwell Street design studios including monitoring/policing of the spaces, coordinating and providing for taught and self-study sessions, implementing appropriate health and safety measures, developing strategies to better utilise the spaces and resources and conducting some practical art/design demos/classes, timetable, open days, etc.
The successful candidate will have experience in operating similar studio setups, preferably in a HE or professional environment, and be responsible for carrying out the day-to-day running of the studios as well as developing good relations with academics, technical colleagues, and other departments of the University in planning a holistic approach that provides an effective, vibrant facility for staff, students and visitors.
The successful candidate must hold a BA hons degree in a relevant fine arts/design area. And they must be willing to complete a HEA and/or PGCert.
The successful candidate will also need to work a few weekends to cover school events and open days.
