Dezeen is looking for a talented and ambitious individual to run Dezeen Awards China, the first regional edition of Dezeen Awards.
Created by Dezeen, the world’s most influential architecture and design media brand, Dezeen Awards is one of the biggest and most popular awards programmes in the architecture, interiors and design sector.
This year, we will be launching Dezeen Awards China, which aims to celebrate the best architecture, interior and design projects from studios based in China. We are looking for an outstanding person to help launch, manage and grow our Chinese edition of Dezeen Awards.
Responsibilities will include but not limited to:
- overseeing and delivering the Chinese edition of Dezeen Awards
driving entries and managing our entries funnel - managing and running the day-to-day operations of a small team
- developing and building relationships with Dezeen Awards judges
- producing and coordinating awards content and marketing activities with other departments
- organising key activities around launch, entry period, shortlisting, judging, master jury sessions and winners announcements
- working with sponsors, media partners and press contacts on promotional and content activities
- reporting on insights and analysing performance data
We want someone who is well-organised and results-driven.
The ideal candidate will have strong analytical, communication and project management skills, and perform with flair and accuracy.
Exceptional writing ability in Simplified Chinese is a must and candidates must also be proficient in written and spoken English.
Experience in managing a small team is vital, along with knowledge of digital content, marketing and engagement.
You will ideally have experience in delivering an awards programme. Please note that Dezeen Awards China is a digital-first project, and experience in running online projects is vital.
Knowledge of the architecture and design industry would be an advantage, but not essential.
The Dezeen Awards China manager will report to Dezeen’s co-CEOs Benedict Hobson and Wai Shin Li, and Dezeen’s China editor Christina Yao.
This will initially be a temporary position on a seven-month fixed-term contract from June to December 2023 on a rate of between 24,000 RMB and 28,000 RMB per month, depending on experience.
The position is based in Shanghai but we will consider applications from candidates from other locations. We offer flexible and remote working opportunities to our team.
