Carmody Groarke is looking for a studio assistant to join its team in London, UK.
Role
The studio assistant will work as part of the studio team with direction from the studio manager. The role involves a range of administrative and operations tasks to facilitate the smooth running of the studio. Occasionally this role will support other studio activities as needed.
Experience
The role is a great opportunity for an individual to become fully immersed in the workings of an exciting architectural practice. Experience in administration and customer service would be beneficial, ideally within the creative industries. Some level of proficiency with Excel, Adobe InDesign and/or Photoshop would be beneficial, as would an interest in architecture and design.
Practice
The studio assistant will have an in-depth knowledge of the practice, proactively assisting the team through a range of operational tasks. You will be required to ensure that the studio is well maintained and kept presentable at all times, prioritising visitor experience, and acting in a professional manner at all times.

Studio assistants should work with a can-do attitude, be confident to work independently, be approachable, personable, multitask effectively and be able to work flexibly in accordance with the needs of the studio. You will be expected to offer assistance in a variety of areas in order to facilitate the smooth running of the studio.
Responsibilities:
- positively contributing to the studio through a range of day-to-day administrative responsibilities and ad hoc tasks, maintaining a well organised and presentable studio environment at all times
- keeping studio records regularly up to date, such as logging the staff usage of company equipment and maintaining the list of gifted company publications
- managing studio supplies and kitchen consumables, maintaining equipment and ordering replacements as and when needed, ensuring the studio always remains well stocked
- answering the phone, sending, receiving and distributing post and deliveries, meeting and greeting guests
- preparing meeting rooms, setting up client presentations and organising refreshments in a timely manner
- assisting in the management of the studio diary, ensuring meeting times are coordinated efficiently and flagging any potential clashes for both internal teams and external visitor meetings
- supporting project teams with relevant tasks as required, including organising pin ups and displays for design reviews, model archiving etc.
- monitoring the studio inbox regularly and redirecting emails to relevant team members
- working with the studio manager to organise business travel for directors and the senior team – this may include trains, taxis, flights, and hotels, assisting in preparing documentation and travel itineraries
- organising taxis, couriers and architectural model transportation
- liaising with suppliers and external service providers and managing an ongoing professional relationship with these contacts
- maintaining health and safety supplies and records, organising annual risk assessments, and following up on actions identified
- organising events for the studio including trips, summer and Christmas parties
- assisting other studio team members (including the practice manager, new business manager, communications coordinator, finance coordinator) with various ad hoc tasks, as needed
