Frame Projects is seeking design review panel members on behalf of the London Borough of Bromley to join its team in London.
Bromley is the largest borough in London and is known for the high quality of its living, working, historic, and natural environments. Bromley values its distinctive neighbourhoods, ranging from the rural, to suburban and urban.
Open countryside, protected by the Green Belt, makes up over half the borough with the majority of population concentrated in its north. Bromley’s historical development has played an important part in establishing its character.
This is reflected in several designated conservation areas and a number of listed and locally listed buildings which, along with high quality new development, contributes to civic pride and wellbeing. The Council aims to make Bromley ‘a fantastic place to live and work, where everyone can lead healthy, safe and independent lives.’ The overriding vision is to support opportunities for sustainable growth whilst ensuring that the existing character and identity of Bromley is enhanced and retained.
Frame Projects is establishing a design review panel, on behalf of Bromley Council, to support high standards of design in new development within the borough. The panel will play an important role in furthering the Council’s commitment to securing exemplary design that complements and enhances the borough’s outstanding historic townscape.
We encourage applications from groups currently under-represented in the building industry, including people with disabilities, women, members of the LGBTQ+ community, and those from Black, Asian and minority ethnic backgrounds. Participation in a design review panel may be one way in which the next generation of talented designers from diverse backgrounds can build their professional profile and experience. We believe this has potential to make a small but worthwhile contribution to improving the diversity of the built environment professions.
Applications are welcome from experts in the following areas:
- architecture
- town planning / urban design
- landscape / ecology
- heritage / townscape
- sustainability / low carbon design
- transport planning
The panel will have around 18 members – and typically five members will attend each review. It will test the fundamental design principles of planning proposals both at pre-application stage and as part of the application process itself.

The closing date for applications is Monday 15 May 2023 at 17.00.
Applicants should be able to commit to attending approximately three meetings a year. Appointment will initially be for the calendar year starting in July 2023. Remuneration will be set at £500 / day and £250 / half day.
