Fletcher Priest Architects is seeking a communications lead to join its team in London.

Summary

This is fantastic opportunity for an experienced communications lead to join a thriving, well-established architecture studio based in London’s Fitzrovia working with a lively and diverse group of talented people. You will be the core of the communications team, responsible for all aspects of communications, reporting directly to the partners. This position requires an individual with great initiative, knowledge and experience of architecture, design and the built environment, with excellent communication skills and a keen visual eye.

Role and responsibilities

Strategy and leadership:

  • develop and maintain a communications strategy, and review regularly with partners and associates
  • lead the output of the communications team, including social media content
  • work alongside our external PR agency to deliver on the aims of the strategy
  • manage the marketing and communications budget
  • ensure effective communication between partners, associates, and other members of the practice’s staff

Communications:

  • work with senior staff to develop the practice and project narratives
  • articulate the practice’s strengths and narrative using all relevant tools (written text, imagery, film, and drawing)
  • develop the practice’s digital communications tools, particularly the website
  • plan and lead internal and external events
  • plan and manage the practice’s entries to awards and ensure representation at awards ceremonies where appropriate
  • lead on commissioning of film and photography, in collaboration with senior staff
  • oversee the website as the key tool for communications, as well as social media and e-newsletter
  • devise and manage the writing, production and distribution of all publications, leaflets and other information about the practice’s work

Client and contact relations:

  • lead on external relations, including contacts, press and clients’ PRs
  • advise on sponsorship and manage relationships with beneficiaries of Fletcher Priest sponsorship
  • working with office manager, ensure contact database is up to date

Press and media:

  • ensure Fletcher Priest maintains a profile in the UK and international media, reflecting its contribution to relevant fields of urban planning, architecture, interiors and research
  • decide on project priorities for press and plan strategies for communicating major themes and projects
  • ensure Fletcher Priest’s press and media list is up to date
  • develop and maintain good relations with leading editors, journalists, and opinion-formers
  • identify opportunities for partners to raise their profiles, and for press introductions
  • lead the timely production of press releases in collaboration with staff and clients

Branding and design:

  • with the senior graphic designer, develop and maintain the practice brand and graphic identity, as it is represented on all communications platforms
  • advise on the use and appointment of consultant graphic designers and illustrators for projects where required
