With a total of 13 incredible venues throughout the UK, we have ambitious plans and are never standing still. We now have an exciting opportunity for a design team manager to join our in-house interiors team.
The job
Reporting to the head of interior design, this is an exciting opportunity for somebody looking for their next career step or already has some experience of being in a team lead role. You will be working across two international hospitality brands as we expand and grow our team. Working client side in the interior design team, you will be overseeing and reviewing your team’s projects as well as managing timelines and developing your team.
Key responsibilities:
- overseeing multiple interior schemes and undertaking reviews of design packs by other team members
- line management and mentoring your team of senior, midweight and junior interior designers
- managing multiple projects from concept development to completion
- ensuring concepts are being implemented appropriately and offering guidance where required
- ensuring interior design drawing packs and projects are delivered on time
- ensuring projects adhere to budgetary requirements whilst still achieving exceptional world-class styles
- overseeing coordination with multiple Red Engine functions for each project
- managing and implementing drawing standards, project standards and templates
Typical project involvement will include:
- ensuring designers implement concept direction from the head of interiors
- managing interior scheme development and design packs production
- collaborating with technical architects and other stakeholders where required
- liaising with M&E consultants to develop venue design requirements and overseeing coordination through the project
- overseeing M&E services design coordination on projects, highlighting and resolving issues or escalating where needed
- reviewing drawing packs and joinery manufacture ROD drawings management of project design trackers and planners
- overseeing internal design review meetings and supporting/guiding designers
- travelling to UK sites as required, involvement in overseas projects as business developments dictate
- maintaining industry knowledge on the latest products and equipment and proposing new, alternatives to the business
To be successful in this role, you’ll have:
- an interior design degree or architectural qualifications with experience in the hospitality sector
- proven management skills, providing constructive feedback and sharing experience to help designers gain knowledge
- excellent project management experience with a proven background in delivering projects on time and within budget
- strong skills in 2D and 3D packages including Vectorworks, Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign) and MS Office, with the ability to deliver drawing packages
- working knowledge of FF&E
- extensive hospitality design experience and awareness of the wider restaurant industry style/trends, similar experience may also be considered provided there is a proven success of managing and delivering projects
- strong design and communication skills
- excellent drawing skills in construction drawing stage
- in-depth understanding of and experience in delivering projects from concept to construction
- solid understanding of UK building regulations, additional knowledge of European and US regulations would also be advantageous
- site experience with the confidence to manage site meetings and external contractors and ability to answer questions and make decisions on the spot
- confidence working with internal stakeholders, taking the lead and sharing views and expertise with confidence
- ability to sketch freehand is an advantage
- knowledge of joinery, furniture and construction detailing is also essential
