Carlo Ratti Associati is seeking a chief of staff to join its team in Turin, Italy.
As chief of staff to Prof Carlo Ratti, you’ll bridge key management teams across Prof Ratti’s MIT Senseable City Lab, the design and innovation practice, CRA and several start-ups including Superpedestrian, Makr Shakr and Maestro Technologies. Your role centres around streamlining decisions, overseeing critical projects and ensuring smooth operations. You’ll act as the primary liaison for Carlo Ratti with clients, conferences and his management team. You will do so with the help of a small team (the cabinet). Your role should help make time, information and decision processes more effective.

Key responsibilities
Strategic planning:
- drive initiatives in line with the strategic goals of CRA and related ventures
- lead key growth projects for Carlo Ratti’s businesses
Agenda and executive support:
- allocate 25 per cent of your time managing Carlo’s agenda, aligning it with strategic targets
- represent Carlo in essential meetings and forums
Operational management:
- refine operational processes by attending relevant meetings
- oversee the cabinet team of three, handling Carlo’s travel, finances and engagements
- manage the annual budget and monitor financial tasks
Communication and collaboration:
- articulate Carlo’s vision to project teams, promoting innovation and teamwork
- encourage collaboration across Carlo’s ventures in architecture, research and tech
Qualifications:
- a young, cosmopolitan person with a BA from a world top 20 university; degree in any field suitable for the role; knowledge of the fields of design is a plus
- the role is designed to grow talented individuals into efficient managers within Prof Ratti’s business and research ecosystem
Skills:
- strategic mindset: capability to envision and pragmatically implement innovative solutions
- communication: outstanding verbal and written communication skills
- project management and organisational skills: capability to proficiently manage multiple, concurrent projects
- language: proficiency in several languages with English being mandatory; Italian and/or any other European language is a plus
