Architecture Initiative is looking for a new business and marketing manager to join its busy London team.
An exciting position for an enthusiastic marketing professional to join a dynamic architectural practice in central London. Founded by Matt Goodwin, Lee Mainwaring and Rowan Parnell in 2012, Architecture Initiative challenges traditional consultancy conventions to deliver an innovative, design focused and proactive service to our clients.
We have grown steadily as a practice over the last six years without a marketing or new business manager. We are looking for a motivated individual to work with us to grow the reputation and awareness of the practice as it enters a new, exciting phase in its development.
The role
This is a new post and we are looking for someone to define the role and help strengthen the practice through the work we have already done and to support the team in developing new business opportunities and leading the marketing strategy.
The new business and marketing manager is responsible for leading the new business and profile-building of the practice. You will work closely with the directors and our external PR consultant to devise and implement marketing and PR for the practice and with an in-house graphic designer/assistant. You will oversee and manage new business activity, promote company news and ensure that opportunities in the media, as well as at events and conferences are maximised, while simultaneously managing the practice’s own communications channels, both digital and print.
Principle responsibilities
- prepare a robust strategic marketing plan that supports our business plan and responds to the needs of each sector with clearly defined targets
- proactively manage and undertake new business activities with the directors
- target agreed list of companies for new business, research potential clients
- manage marketing budget
- assisting the directors to strategise and prepare for presentations and meetings
- organising a weekly internal review of new business and marketing activities
- planning marketing activities, communications, and content marketing (e.g. e-newsletters and other digital and social media communications)
- responsible for AI’s PR and press relationships working closely with an external PR consultancy
- research, seek and secure speaking and thought leadership opportunities working closely with an external PR consultancy
- identify key industry events, conferences etc
- identify, manage and coordinate AI hosted events
- manage and keep up to date AI marketing and new business collateral e.g. company brochures, presentations, etc.
- manage AI’s social channels (Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn)
- managing ad hoc marketing communications (newsletters, emails, seasonal communications)
- manage AI’s annual client reviews on client satisfaction and needs
- internal communications with the team
- coordinating and managing internal graphic designer and external PR consultant
- write copy for press releases, articles, etc. and collate associated photographs and drawings
- ensuring the website is regularly updated
- ensuring the database of clients, potential clients, developers, media and industry organisations is up to date
- liaising with architecture trade press, mainstream design and lifestyle consumer magazines, architecture and design critics in the broadsheets and bloggers to promote project stories
Skills and attributes
- bachelor degree and three+ years of marketing experience, preferably gained from working within a creative, design or architectural studio
- have proven ability to develop marketing and communications strategies and ability to quantify outcomes
- have a track record of securing new business
- excellent writing, editorial, and communications skills
- strong understanding of new business and marketing techniques
- confidence, excellent organisational skills, resourceful, self-motivated, and the ability to work to a high standard
- knowledge of current digital and social media communications
- a passion for architecture and design
- Adobe InDesign, Photoshop expertise
Salary £45,000 PA dependent on experience.
Previous experience in architecture is a must.
