Communications coordinator
at Fletcher Priest Architects
Fletcher Priest Architects is hiring a communications coordinator to join its team in London.
We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated communications coordinator to enrich our communications team. In this pivotal role, you will support the communications lead and wider Fletcher Priest team, contributing to the seamless execution of day-to-day internal and external communications tactics and activities.
As a communications coordinator, you will be at the forefront of delivering a range of recurring and ad-hoc communication initiatives, including uploading digital media content from social media to website content with the aid of the communications lead. You will assist with planning and organising events, photography and project tours, including our annual communications trackers that keep the practice on top of what is coming.
The ideal candidate will be not only passionate about effective communication but comfortable navigating Fletcher Priest’s large office environment where we work across architecture, urban design and interior design.
You will be curious about the changing nature of communications, seeking new information and wanting to develop your skills within our team. Bringing your creative and inquisitive eye to everything that you do, you are detailed oriented and have a natural flair for discerning what ‘good’ looks like.

Required skills are further explained below:
- clear and confident communicator – both written and spoken
- innate eye for detail and confidence of what visually looks good, which might include digital media, photography, branded documents and/or event production
- personable and comfortable engaging with a range of individuals at anyone time
- comfortable entry-level copywriting, editing and proof-reading skills
- basic knowledge of applying specified tone of voice to all forms of copywriting would be advantageous, but not essential
- comfortable with the prolific requirements and activities of comms and can calmly manage their workload that involves multiple projects, tasks and shifting deadlines, offloading and pulling resources when needed
- light project management skills with ability to manage timelines, project deliverables and apply appropriate lead times to meet deadlines would be advantageous
- entry-level understanding of website backends and ability to manage editing and uploading website content in a timely manner
- where possible, can make suggestions for website improvement, including back-end functionality, and front-end user experience
- entry-level understanding of social media including post requirements (captions and images), the nuanced differences between platforms, and expresses an ability to learn and improve social media capability
- an appetite to seek out and learn new tools and technologies to assist with comms activities, such as ChatGPT, Sprout, WordPress, Trello, Open Asset
- curious nature and actively seeks out information and knowledge to advance skills, be it external reading, attending webinars, seeking a mentor or approaching colleagues for advice
- brings news ideas and suggest new ways of working to the comms team
- professional manner who is able to represent the FPA brand and company values across all tasks
The role can be divided in five sections, with a general overview provided below
Project and practice communications:
- maintain the practice’s project photography schedule and list of photographer contact details
- organise and attend photography shoots
- assist the team with the creation of the books and other graphical items alongside the graphic designer
- assist the development to of the new year’s card, including mailing list
- source and produce branded gifts for clients
Digital media:
- update website by creating and editing pages in line with comms and practice needs
- troubleshoot website issues and interface with website technical team on resolutions
- develop social media calendar with lead
- work with lead to schedule weekly posts on Sprout – selecting and resizing images, tagging clients and consultants
- monitor social media tags, likes and comments – respond and reshare where relevant
- keep an eye on social media shifts and trends and make suggestions on how we can evolve and improve our social media
Events:
- assist Fletcher Priest’s presence at external events such as the London Festival of Architecture Studio open event, Open City/Open House events and tours, RA Summer Show, New London Architecture events and others as required
- assist with NLA membership and the day-to-day upkeep of needs by the office
- coordinating the monthly practice presentation logistics by engaging with relevant staff members presenting to ensure their material is input into PowerPoint
Press and PR:
- attend fortnightly meetings with our PR agents and support follow up action items alongside communications lead
- support with project data collection for fact sheet and organising information (plans etc) as required for press packs
- collate positive quotes about the practice into the relevant spreadsheet
- monitor and save relevant press clippings issued by Ing, the team or found online
Award submissions:
- manage awards calendar ensuring it captures key relevant information required to make decisions on what to enter
- attend award entry review meetings with lead
- where asked, lead award entries with project teams, including reading entry requirements, creating brief documents, setting kick off meetings and monitoring progress
- manage physical award uploads to award website portals
- manage award visits, tours and any follow on requirements from award submissions
- organise award gala tables, tickets and logistics
